Seeking positive and motivated people to join our CSA Distribution Team!

Volunteer and Paid positions for the 2024 CSA Distribution Team: May 15 – Oct 25

CSA Distribution Team Dates and Hours:

Wed – Fri from approx. 1:00 pm – 6:30 pm
May 15th – Oct 25th – Summer Season
October 30
th – Dec 13th – Winter Season

Seeking applicant(s) who can provide reliability, a positive attitude, and friendly customer service to our CSA Distribution Team.

An eye for light restocking, attending to quality control, cleanliness, and communications with the Gorman Staff and CSA members. The ability to work alone, stay proactive and pay attention to the product and the customers in a positive and relaxed environment.

*Farming skills/outdoor field work and understanding of horticulture is not required.

Gorman Farms began in 2008 and over the last 16 years has strategically expanded while maintaining the utmost quality in providing fresh local produce.  Our priorities are quality, customer experience, and consistency. Gorman Farms has an exceptional rate of CSA member retention in our industry. We always aim to uphold and enhance our reputation.

This season, Gorman Farms is seeking assistance on our Distribution Team.  We have volunteer positions and paid positions available. See details below for each opportunity.

Successful applicants will assist our priorities in managing the logistics of day-to-day operations and get excited about creating a place in the community where quality produce and the membership experience is foundational.

Our high member retention rate translates to a positive work environment.  Most of our members have been with the CSA program for multiple years and the produce quality and member experience sells itself. With a relatively small crew, we all work together throughout the production chain.  We are an ambitious farm, small enough that your presence will really have an impact and large enough that you will get a diversity of experience.

Volunteer Positions

Seeking a  2 to 3 month commitment (preferably more), for  Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays with a minimum of 3 hours each day. May 15 – Oct 15. Ideally, between 1 pm and 6 pm. For volunteers, we can be flexible to a degree within this time and understand some variability. We need enough commitment that it makes sense for us. If you strongly desire this position and feel that you may be a good fit, but may require more flexibility, we would still like to hear from you.

Less responsibility, and more of a customer service position. Someone to communicate with members and relay information to and from the Gorman staff. Some light restocking, and minimal cleaning duties.

Time Commitments:

       Seasonal commitment preferred

       2-3 month commitment required

       Flexible daily start and stop times within the timeframes listed above

       The season starts with our Pick your Own Strawberries fest, prior to the start of the CSA season.

 Duties may include:

       Greeting and helping customers who require assistance

       Refreshening and light re-stocking of produce displays

       Light cleaning as needed

       Paying attention to the day and relaying pertinent info via phone email or text to the Gorman Staff.

       Receiving information from the Gorman Farm Staff via phone or text about a detail to accomplish or check on.

       Making notes or updating procedural charts if needed.

       Light weeding and flower garden work onsite at the distribution (as desired).

Paid positions

Seeking applicants who can make a full season commitment, from May through October, and preferably up through early December. Assistants will be trained in the day-to-day aspects of fulfilling our weekly CSA distribution with the intention of taking the reins in the practical operations.

 Wage is D.O.E and time commitment dependent.

More responsibilities including some lifting, product organizing, calculating & updating inventory charts, customer service, work in the cold storage fridge, general cleaning, light opening and closing procedures, and a deeper dive into day to day operations for the CSA distribution.

Time Commitments:

       Seasonal commitment required

       Set schedule within timeframe listed above

       The season starts with our Pick your Own Strawberries fest, prior to the start of the CSA season.

 Duties include:

       Greeting and helping customers who require assistance

       Refreshing and re-stocking of produce displays

       General day to day cleaning

       Organization of product in the walk-in fridge. And light inventory management

       Some lifting, sorting, counting, culling and organization of product and supplies involved.

       Paying attention to the day and relaying pertinent info via phone email or text to the Gorman Staff.

       Receiving information from the Gorman Farm Staff via phone or text about a detail to accomplish or check on.

       Updating charts and communications

       Light weeding and flower garden work onsite at the distribution.
