We are seeking staff to help us grow and improve our farm into the future. We seek people that can participate for the entirety of the season.

The best candidates will have some customer service experience, and or familiarity with vegetables and farm sales. An interest in local and organic food, retail experience, produce handling and any knowledge of CSA programs is preferable. A friendly, helpful demeanor is a must. Reliability and trustworthiness, with a cheerful, engaging personality and a love of vegetables are essential.

Hours and Compensation:
  • Full-time positions available.
  • Seasonal: May thru December (Longer season potential with multi season commitment)
  • Pay is dependent upon experience and season commitment
  • Strawberry Season shifts are morning to late afternoon May – June. 5 days/week
  • CSA shifts are afternoons through evenings June – Dec. 30-40 hrs/week

Our CSA distribution is located in a refurbished vintage barn with the quaint, warm and friendly feel of a farmer’s market atmosphere. The  barn is located just steps away from the crops on one of our organic farm locations.

Our Distribution Barn is the main hub of our business. Being involved, you will learn the inner workings of a highly efficient and productive organic produce operation. We are an ambitious farm, small enough that your presence will really have an impact and large enough that you will get a diversity of experience.

Description of “Csa Distribution TEam” Position:

Assist in managing the weekly shares of the CSA program through a well managed and highly efficient market style distribution. Each week presents its own flow of incoming and outgoing produce, while we distribute to our seasoned and new customers. Maintaining flow and productivity via our packing shed, various walk-in coolers, and CSA barn is top priority. On the farm there are many moving parts, and while no job is beneath us, we often have to wear many hats. There may be various tasks outside of these descriptions that come up from time to time.

Tasks involve:

  • Mobilization and setup of produce displays prior to market opening.
  • Maintaining presentation and cleanliness of displays throughout the day, inventory, cleanup and appropriate produce storage in the various refrigeration facilities.
  • Managing and sub-dividing large volumes of freshly harvested produce with specialized pallet trucks and carts.
  • Utilizing spreadsheets to identify the variables within each week’s CSA distributions.
  • Creating bulk farmer’s market like displays using creative crating systems.
  • Learning and maintaining produce quality control throughout the entire farm.
  • Creating and managing appropriate signage for CSA members.
  • Keeping the distribution area clean, efficient, organized and welcoming
  • Chipping in on other miscellaneous farm duties
  • Assisting seasonally with the pick-your-own strawberry operations (running point of sale, interacting with customers and answering questions, general logistics of the pick-your-own business.)

  • Interested in agriculture and the local food movement
  • Reliable transportation to and from the farm and a valid driver’s license
  • Live within realistic commuting distance to Gorman Farms at the time of the positions commencement
  • Related customer service or agricultural experience
  • Previous participation or basic knowledge about CSA. This is the one and only “product” of the farm, staff must become well acquainted with our version of the CSA model and how to represent the farm.
  • You’re interested in, and committed to, sustainable agriculture.
  • You have a relationship with fresh produce in your daily life.
  • Commitment to more than one season, we want you to grow with the business
  • An aesthetic eye and or artistic/drawing ability
  • Spanish speaking – (Huge advantage)
  • Familiar with macOS and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Basic or strong understanding of body mechanics.
